What is FNOR 1?

FNOR 1 is a fast-paced instructional course in integrative physical rehabilitation of low back pain and associated disorders.  As the first course in FNOR's series of 3 foundational courses, it is also an application-based introduction to FNOR's integrative system of rehabilitation.  In this course you will learn to adopt an efficient, person-centered, evidence-based approach to low back pain in its various manifestations.

The Biopsychosocial model of care is ubiquitously recommended for care delivery, especially in modern pain management and physical rehabilitation, however, this model does not offer a framework or a system of care.  FNOR closes this gap by delivering an effective framework that is consistent with the Biopsychosocial model but is bolstered by instruction in clinically valuable, highly practical and effective techniques and approaches to care.   Clinicians consistently report that this program simplified their clinical practice, while improving outcomes in many cases.

Low back pain is addressed by a range of healthcare practitioners, including medical physicians across multiple specialties (incl. family practice, neurology, orthopedics, physiatry), physio-/physical therapists, and chiropractors.   Even among these various specialties, practice format varies considerably.  While the FNOR program emphasizes physical rehabilitation, its flexibility makes it adaptable to various practices, including smaller, single-practitioner settings to larger, multiple-site systems.  The program is not limited to strict protocols but instead offers a flexible framework that allows the practitioner to adapt what they have learned to their practice and individual patient needs. 

4. It addresses a range of Low Back Pain manifestations

Low back pain (LBP) is not a single condition with consistently identifiable symptoms and signs.  Most cases of LBP are caused by several problems occurring at (or near) the same time.   This means that single-intervention strategies for LBP are of limited value.   This course offers an efficient framework that can be applied to the diagnosis and clinical management of LBP that addresses the condition from multiple dimensions.  Many highly-experienced LBP rehabilitation specialists report that FNOR 1 expanded their knowledge and clinical skillset by introducing some novel perspectives. 

What is the structure of the program? 

While for the FNOR program has been exclusively offered in the in-person, class format for years, the program is now offered online.   

The current online program includes live instruction supplemented by instructional videos and supportive materials.

The course is offered over 2.5 days (2 full days followed by a half day of live instruction) for a total of 25 CEUs.

In this format, participants will LOG ON to watch and participate in the live stream, and will be able to review the course, which will be recorded (on-demand) for up to 12 mos** following the start of the course.
